Abou me
How it all started…
In
2010,
a
budgie
breeder
friend
introduced
me
to
Bourke's
parrots
and
immediately
fascinated
by
the
various
mutations
that
had
emerged
in
the
meantime.
I
was
particularly
drawn
to
the
edged
and
natural-colored
Bourke's
parrots.
During
a
visit
to
a
breeder
in
northern
Germany,
the
decision
was
quickly
made,
and
I
purchased
two
pairs
of
wild-colored
and
two
pairs
of
edged
Bourke's parrots.
I
actually
wanted
to
keep
the
Bourke's
parrots
together
with
the
show
budgerigars
in
my
existing
breeding
facility.
After
a
few
months,
however,
I
realized
that
keeping
show
budgerigars
and
Bourke's
parrots
together
only
worked
to
a
limited
extent.
The
Bourke's
parrots
bred
perfectly,
but
they
didn't
really
feel
comfortable
around
the
budgies.
The
budgerigars
were
too
restless for them, and the aviaries were too busy.
The
solution
was
to
purchase
a
second
container
and
build
my
own
breeding
room
with
significantly
larger
breeding
boxes,
also
optimally
suited
for
Bourke's
Parrots.
And
so
my
small
Bourke's
Parrot breeding facility was born.
At
the
end
of
2025,
after
almost
50
years,
I
decided
to
give
up
my
budgerigar
stud.
The
layout
of
my
9-meter
container
was
redesigned
and
completely
rebuilt
to
expand
my
Bourke's
parrot
breeding
facility.
