About me

How it all started…

In 2010 I became aware of the Bourke parrots through a budgie breeder friend of mine and was immediately fascinated by the various mutations that had occurred in the meantime. I was particularly taken with the fringed but also the natural colored Bourke parrots. When I visited a breeder in the north of Germany, the decision was quickly made and I bought 2 pairs of wild-colored and 2 pairs of edged Bourke parrots. Actually, I wanted to keep the Bourke parrots together with the show budgies in my existing breeding facility. After a few months, however, I found out that the socialization of budgerigars and Bourke's parrots only works to a limited extent. The Bourkes parrots bred perfectly, but they didn't really feel at home in the presence of the budgies. The budgies were too restless for them and the aviaries were too busy. The solution was… to buy a second container, and to build your own breeding room with massively larger breeding boxes, also optimally adapted to Bourke's parrots. And so my little Bourke parrot bird room or Bourke parrot breeding aviary came into being.
